Naturopathic nutrition focuses on using food as medicine: a range of nutritional measures such as eating seasonal and locally sourced food, reducing processed foods and increasing hydration, help to support health and wellbeing.
However naturopathy is broader than nutrition alone – our well-being depends on becoming aware of our body as an integrated system, and how our cycles interact with those of nature. Naturopathy encompasses all aspects of our life: the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of ourselves along with, for example, lifestyle and environmental factors.
When you start taking a naturopathic approach to your well-being, you begin to restore balance and flow to your body, stillness to your mind and a reconnection to your own innate wisdom. Some of the benefits of this approach include:
> a reduction in stress and anxiety,
> a higher overall level of fitness,
> relief from pain and chronic ailments,
> increased energy,
> being better able to cope with life’s challenges,
> being less likely to succumb to common ailments, such as colds and flu.
Taking this approach will help you ‘be well’ – whatever that means to you, which we explore during our initial consultation. Whilst there are a few generic principles to naturopathy, such as the nutritional aspects mentioned above, everyone is individual and so we consider your needs and lifestyle requirements when establishing your goals.
This is suitable for you whether you’re experiencing a health challenge and would benefit from understanding your journey to date as well as how to regain wellness; are generally well but interested in living a more healthy lifestyle; are curious about preventative medicine or simply seeking a greater understanding of your body’s natural rhythms.
