What is “Breathing Space”?

These 30 minute virtual drop-in groups will provide you with a safe space to destress and breathe again. A Fresh Air Fridays Facilitator will lead the group in real time (no pre-recordings).

Mae rhai o’r sesiynau’n cael eu rhedeg yn ddwyieithog. Mae pob sesiwn yn addas i bawb. Dewch dydd Mercher neu ddydd Gwener, os hoffech chi glywed mwy o Gymraeg.

Some of the sessions are run bilingually in Welsh and English. All sessions are suitable for everyone. Come along on Wednesdays or Fridays to hear more Welsh, as a learner or just because it is nice.

Who is it for?

We believe that everyone benefits from pausing for a moment but if you are feeling stressed, stretched, anxious, isolated, happy or perhaps you already know the benefit of taking time for yourself to breathe then this is perfect for you.

If you lead a team of people or have any kind of support role, this would be a great place to signpost people. And if you are in that position we thoroughly recommend you also take that time for yourself.

Why should I come?

You will experience time and tools to allow you to pause and refocus. You will leave feeling more resourceful, relaxed and ready for whatever else you need to do in your life. What you learn here you will be able to use elsewhere in your life. The tools and practices we share are core to the new ways of working that many people are applying in their communities and workplaces [as part of developing the Inner Development Goals needed to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals].

How much does it cost?

It is FREE to join our Breathing Space drop-in groups and you can attend as frequently as you would like to.

What happens?

The facilitator will introduce the session. There will be some structured short exercises to help you decompress and relax and a chance to connect with other people in small groups. You are free to join in and speak or simply watch with or without your video on.

These sessions are for over 18’s. We do understand that in the current circumstances you may have children around, if that is the case please wear headphones for the privacy of everyone concerned.

What one of our participants had to say…

“Breathing Spaces is a life-line!

Each Breathing Space is unique and beautiful and expertly hosted by Ruth, Rose or other team members. They allow me to get in touch with who and where and how I am just now and to accept this for what it is. By accepting, I begin to see more deeply and to notice that there are both positive and negative, incomprehensible and understandable aspects to every situation.

Each Breathing Space is packed with brilliant (evidence based!) techniques that I can transfer to other situations and yet they are also full of space, time, love and consideration. Everything is both experiential and invitational, so there is no theory to learn and no need to do anything that doesn’t feel right. There is nothing to do but to be here and feel supported and have a go.

I have benefitted from individual sessions and also from the cumulative effect of attending multiple sessions and incorporating some of the practices into my daily life. I am calmer and more effective in my work and more understanding of problems and challenges at home. Breathing Spaces feels like a crucial element in my journey to becoming me.

Thank you both for the wonderful work that you do!”
